The owner, Nick Marriott, is a Michelin star-trained chef who is passionate about bringing vibrant, refreshingly new, exciting flavours to a country classic style of cuisine. Modern techniques are used to create unique dishes, adding to a menu that is constantly evolving, providing visually stunning food bursting with flavours.
The Mermaid at Ellington has the experience to cater for all occasions, from intimate dinners, business meetings, to family celebrations. We also offer a professional Outside Catering Service, designed alongside you, to create a memorable experience for your special event. Our happy bar staff can offer a wide selection of lagers, ciders, real ales and guest beers, all on draught, and the cellar holds a critically selected range of fine wines. Every time we've gone to The Mermaid over the past year, it has got better and better. The menu changes regularly with exciting twists on classics as well as creative original dishes. For a small pub in a village, it's managed to transform itself into an excellent restaurant with really delicious food while keeping the charm of a cozy English pub.
Wonderfully old surroundings tastefully preserved to provide a good comfortable dining space, the food is so well presented it is almost a crime to disturb it. The colours and flavours in the vegetarian dish are out of the world. The service is second to nine with Kiera serving us with her passionate knowledge of the dishes on offer and the wines to compliment.
